The Delhi Congress has scripted a significant turnaround in the Municipal Corporation by-elections, with its Sangam Vihar victory marking a revival of fortunes. Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) President Shri Devender Yadav credited the triumph to relentless grassroots mobilisation and an organisational reset that has doubled the party’s vote share from 6.18% to 13.44%.
Yadav emphasized that the credit belongs to booth-level workers who worked tirelessly day and night, ensuring that Congress candidate Suresh Chaudhary secured Sangam Vihar with a decisive margin. “This is not just a win, it is proof of political transformation,” Yadav said, highlighting how the party’s renewed energy resonated with voters.
Out of the 12 wards contested, BJP, which previously held nine, managed to retain only seven. The Congress chief underlined that while BJP’s vote share dipped by 2% and AAP’s by 8%, Congress surged ahead, signaling a shift in Delhi’s political mood. He asserted that the electorate has rejected the BJP-led corporation under Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, accusing her of false promises and misgovernance.
