Fifty years ago, on 2nd November 1976, the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi imposed the Emergency and added the words Secular and Socialist to the Constitution of India so that her power would remain unchallenged forever.
Fifty years later, the true tribute and homage to those who were martyred and persecuted during the Emergency would be that the Government of India, in the upcoming session of Parliament, formally removes the words Secular and Socialist from the Constitution and declares India a Hindu Rashtra.
Today, while discussing the days of the Emergency with the activists at the headquarters of United Hindu Front, the International Working President of United Hindu Front, senior BJP leader and National President of Rashtravadi Shiv Sena, Jay Bhagwan Goyal, said that at that time he was only 16 years old. He used to collect chapatis and food from people’s homes and, along with his schoolmates, go to the jails to meet the volunteers and Hindu leaders imprisoned because of the Emergency.
Whatever work is being done today in the interest of Hindus and the nation is the result of the blessings received from those leaders of that era. Congress and its leaders trampled upon the Constitution and imposed the Emergency, and without completing any constitutional process, inserted the words Secular and Socialist into Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s Constitution. Today, the same Congress leaders are roaming from street to street with copies of the Constitution in their hands, invoking the Constitution only to conspire to seize power once again.
Today, the Hindu society of the country humbly requests Prime Minister Narendra Modi that just as Article 370 was abrogated, obstacles in the path of the Ram Temple were removed, and the law against triple talaq was implemented, similarly, the words Secular and Socialist should be removed from the Constitution and India should be formally declared a Hindu Rashtra. This alone will be the true tribute and homage to the great heroes who were martyred and persecuted during the Emergency.
Few days back furore around both two words erupted when RSS top functionary Hos bole commented their presence in ‘Samvidhan Moolatma’ . Congress hits on BJP and showed a firm stand against any change in Constitution. Due to Samvidhan jibe BJP had not reached majority mark in 2024 Lok Sabha election.
