Delhi Mayor Pravesh Wahi on Wednesday inaugurated a road in Mukhmelpur village, aimed at improving road infrastructure and providing better facilities to local residents.
Speaking at the event, Wahi emphasised the need to make cleanliness a daily habit and urged citizens to segregate waste at its source to prevent it from reaching landfill sites.

He said the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has been carrying out a series of inaugurations and development works for public convenience. He also said that since Rekha Gupta assumed office as Delhi Chief Minister, the civic body has been receiving adequate funds for development projects.
With the support of the Delhi government, the height of Delhi’s garbage mountains has been reduced by more than half and they will be completely eliminated soon, Wahi said.

Citing Indore, Sikkim and Gujarat as examples of cleanliness, the mayor stressed that making Delhi clean, hygienic and green would require active public participation.
He urged residents to segregate waste at the source, advising them to dispose of wet waste in green bins and dry waste in blue bins. He said adopting such simple practices could help reduce the burden on landfill sites and contribute to a cleaner environment.
Wahi reiterated the MCD’s commitment to improving civic amenities and providing better facilities to residents.
Dr U.K. Chaudhary, BJP district president (North-East), MCD nominated member Rajpal Rana, North Zone Deputy Commissioner Shweta Nagarkoti, local residents and civic officials were present at the inauguration.
Residents welcomed the road inauguration and appreciated the ongoing development work in the village.
