Jeetegi Delhi, Harega Dengue-Malaria’: Mayor Pravesh Wahi Flags Off 100 Auto-Rickshaws for Citywide Awareness Drive

In a major public outreach initiative against vector-borne diseases, Delhi Mayor Pravesh Wahi on Friday flagged off a massive auto-rickshaw rally from the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) Headquarters at Civic Centre. The campaign aims to create awareness about the prevention of dengue, malaria and other mosquito-borne diseases across the national capital.

A total of 100 auto-rickshaws accompanied by 450 MCD workers were flagged off during the programme. The vehicles have been equipped with fogging machines and awareness material, including banners, pamphlets and preventive health messages for residents.

Addressing the gathering, Mayor Pravesh Wahi said the rally would travel across all 250 wards of Delhi, spreading awareness on measures citizens can adopt to prevent mosquito breeding and reduce the risk of vector-borne diseases.

Emphasising the campaign’s theme, “Jeetegi Delhi, Harega Dengue-Malaria,” the Mayor said the slogan represents MCD’s commitment to safeguarding public health and ensuring effective prevention of vector-borne diseases.
The Mayor also inaugurated a fogging campaign and highlighted that the awareness drive complements the Corporation’s ongoing field inspections and disease-control measures.

Referring to the completion of 12 years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s tenure, Wahi said MCD is organising a series of public welfare initiatives and awareness programmes aimed at making Delhi cleaner, greener and healthier.

Calling upon residents to actively participate in disease prevention efforts, the Mayor urged citizens to follow a simple three-point strategy: “Cover, Clean and Keep Dry.” He advised residents to keep water tanks and containers covered, maintain cleanliness in and around their homes, and prevent water stagnation to curb mosquito breeding.
Additional Commissioner Dr. Satendra Singh Dursawat, Municipal Health Officers Dr. Ashok Rawat and Dr. Lallan Ram Verma, along with senior MCD officials and staff, were present during the flag-off ceremony.

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi said the campaign will continue across the city during the monsoon season to strengthen public awareness and preventive action against dengue and malaria.
