In a sweeping crackdown on unauthorized constructions, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has demolished 123 properties and sealed 170 properties across the capital since June 1, acting on the directions of Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.

The civic body intensified its enforcement drive yesterday, carrying out demolition action against 26 properties and sealing 42 more across multiple zones. The large‑scale operation was supported by Delhi Police, with bulldozers and manpower deployed to dismantle illegal structures and seal properties found in violation of building bye‑laws.

Nine major enforcement actions were undertaken in South Delhi, targeting areas such as Adchini, Said‑ul‑Azaib, Freedom Fighter Colony, Savitri Nagar, Khirki Extension, and Chhattarpur Pahari. Officials said the drive focused on unauthorized constructions and illegal commercial activities operating in blatant violation of building regulations.

Since June 1, enforcement teams have targeted 56 properties in Said‑ul‑Azaib, Hauz Rani, Khirki Extension, Savitri Nagar, Begumpur, Chhattarpur, Sainik Farms, Khanpur, and Gautam Nagar. In addition, more than 200 notices have been issued across all zones for violations of the Master Plan‑2021, Unified Building Bye‑Laws‑2016, and the Delhi Municipal Corporation Act‑1957.
Local residents were briefed on the importance of adhering to legal boundaries in construction and property use. Officials emphasized that demolition and sealing actions are deterrent measures, with exclusive teams now constituted to intensify enforcement in the coming days.
The MCD has also launched a survey to identify illegal commercial and residential properties across the city. Authorities reiterated that citizens can approach zonal offices for guidance on compliance, while warning that further violations will invite strict punitive action.
