The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), under the ongoing Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 campaign, intensified its cleanliness and awareness drive yesterday, reaching thousands of students and citizens through source segregation, RRR (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle), and hygiene-focused activities across schools and public spaces.
In the West Zone, the Corporation rolled out the Swachh Paathshala: Yuva for Swachhata initiative, conducting 4-way source segregation awareness sessions simultaneously in all 127 MCD schools. The programme engaged 25,792 students and 508 staff members, including principals. Additionally, three RRR activities involved 170 students, while a Swachhata Gyan Yatra exposed 50 students and 10 teachers to practical waste-management practices during a visit to the Fixed Compactor Transfer Station (FCTS) at Pankha Road, Janakpuri.
In the Karol Bagh Zone, a special cleanliness drive was carried out in Ward No. 82 under the leadership of Councillor Shri Manish Chadha. The campaign covered Dr. Munje Chowk, Gali Krishna, Ghee Mandi, and Gali Halwai, where sanitation workers undertook sweeping and waste-cleaning operations. MCD also inspected and cleaned the public toilet opposite New Delhi Railway Station, Paharganj, ensuring improved hygiene and user convenience.
To foster creativity and awareness, the Corporation organised two Swachhata Drawing Competitions with the participation of 240 students, focusing on segregation, RRR, and cleanliness. At Bhart Nagar Co-ed MCD School, a training session highlighted plastic waste management and the harmful impacts of single-use plastic. Similarly, at MCD School, Nimri Colony, Ashok Vihar, students and teachers attended an awareness session on types of waste and responsible disposal practices.
The activities witnessed active participation from students, teachers, sanitation workers, and local stakeholders, reinforcing the message of collective responsibility towards cleanliness. MCD officials emphasised that such initiatives aim to instill sustainable habits among young citizens and encourage community-driven efforts for a cleaner Delhi.
