As part of its sustained enforcement drive against unauthorized construction and misuse of residential properties, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) today carried out a comprehensive demolition and sealing operation in various areas of the Karol Bagh Zone.
The enforcement action was undertaken by the Building Department in accordance with the provisions of the Delhi Municipal Corporation Act and applicable building by-laws.During the drive, MCD carried out demolition action in Punjabi Bagh, where unauthorized structural additions were removed. The operation involved demolition of unauthorized RCC roof slab panels at the ground floor level, cutting of reinforcement bars using a gas cutter, and removal of unauthorized walls and columns constructed on the first floor.
The action was executed smoothly with the assistance of the local police and the MCD Demolition Squad.In a parallel enforcement exercise, the Corporation also conducted an extensive sealing drive across East Patel Nagar, West Patel Nagar, South Patel Nagar and Ranjeet Nagar against the misuse of residential properties.
During the operation, 11 properties were sealed at multiple access points for violations of land-use and building norms. The action included sealing of basement and ground-floor premises found to be under unauthorized commercial use, including commercial establishments and libraries being operated from residential properties.
The Corporation reiterated its commitment to ensuring strict compliance with sanctioned building plans and land-use regulations. MCD will continue to take firm action against unauthorized construction and misuse of residential premises across all zones of Delhi in the interest of planned urban development and public welfare.
MCD has appealed to all property owners and occupants to adhere strictly to the prescribed building and land-use norms. Any violation of the provisions of the Delhi Municipal Corporation Act and applicable regulations will invite stringent enforcement action, including demolition and sealing, wherever warranted.
