Mayor of Delhi Pravesh Wahi yesterday dedicated the road stretching from Kanjhawala Road to Nangal Thakran village in the Nangal Thakran Ward of Narela Zone to Kushti Samrat Chaudhary Chhattar Singh Pehalwan. A memorial gate in his honor was also inaugurated.
Mayor Wahi said, “The life of Chaudhary Chhattar Singh Pehalwan will serve as a guiding light for future generations. His stature in wrestling continues to inspire us all.” He emphasized that the BJP government in Delhi is working tirelessly for public welfare, highlighting Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta’s initiatives to improve pensions, pave every street and chaupal, and allocate dedicated budgets for street lighting. He also urged citizens to take personal responsibility for cleanliness, noting that the MCD has launched a 24×7 helpline 155305 for sanitation-related complaints.
Yogendra Chandoliya remarked, “By naming this road and inaugurating the Chaudhary Chhattar Singh Pehalwan Dwar, we pay heartfelt tribute to him. Delhi had lagged behind in development over the past 11 years, but under Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s leadership, the foundation for growth is being laid in every constituency.” He also assured villagers that their request for a library would be considered with utmost priority.
The event was attended by Yogendra Chandoliya, MP North West Delhi; Ravinder Indraj Singh, Minister for Women and Social Welfare; Jai Bhagwan Yadav, Leader of House; Babita Deepak Dabas, Chairperson Narela Zone; Pawan Sehrawat, Councillor; Vinod Sehrawat, Nominated Member; and senior MCD officials.
This initiative is being seen as a significant step in honoring local icons while simultaneously strengthening civic infrastructure in Delhi.
