The Hon’ble Mayor of Delhi, Sardar Raja Iqbal Singh, today visited Haqiqat Nagar in Mukherjee Nagar Ward, Burari, and other flood-affected areas to assess the situation on the ground. Due to the recent and unexpected rise in the water level of the Yamuna River, parts of Haqiqat Nagar, Burari, and surrounding localities have experienced waterlogging and flood-like conditions.
Zonal Deputy Commissioner, Anshul Sirohi and Senior officials from the Municipal Corporation of Delhi were also present during the inspection. The Mayor received a detailed briefing from the officers present at the site and issued necessary directions.
The Mayor instructed the municipal officials to deploy additional pumps for the swift drainage of floodwater and to ensure special attention is given to sanitation and fogging in waterlogged areas to prevent the outbreak of diseases.
Mayor Sardar Raja Iqbal Singh stated that the Municipal Corporation of Delhi stands with its citizens in every situation. The flooding in areas adjacent to the Yamuna River is being taken very seriously, and all possible assistance is being extended to those affected. Our top priority is to eliminate waterlogging at the earliest and restore normalcy to daily life.
He also appealed to local residents not to panic, assuring them that municipal teams and disaster management personnel are working diligently. In case of any emergency, citizens can contact the helpline numbers of the MCD.
