Worker Injured After JCB Dumps Soil Into Pit During Delhi Jal Board Work in North-East Delhi

A situation of panic erupted in the Sonia Vihar area of North-East Delhi when a labourer entered a pit during excavation work at Third Pusta and lost consciousness after soil was dumped on him by a JCB machine. It is reported that work related to the Delhi Jal Board was underway at the site, where a pit was being dug using a JCB machine.

According to eyewitnesses, a cable wire became visible in the pit during the excavation. A labourer went down into the pit to remove the wire. Meanwhile, the JCB operator was unaware that a worker was inside the pit and started dumping soil from above. The falling soil buried the labourer, and within a short time his condition deteriorated and he became unconscious.

After the incident, panic spread among the other workers and local residents present at the spot. People immediately pulled the trapped labourer out of the pit and tried to provide him with first aid. He was later sent to a hospital for treatment.

Local residents alleged that adequate safety arrangements were not in place during the excavation work. They said that if proper caution had been exercised, such an incident could have been avoided. At present, clear information about the labourer’s condition has not emerged, while questions are also being raised about the functioning of the concerned department.

As soon as news of the incident spread, local residents gathered at the spot and expressed concern. People are demanding that the concerned agencies strictly follow safety norms during such works to prevent similar incidents in the future.
