The Delhi Police Crime Branch has arrested a notorious interstate criminal and proclaimed offender linked to the infamous Krishan Gahta Gang, ending a two-year-long chase.
The accused, Ravinder Deswal alias Chota, Bhanja and Bori, was apprehended after a brief chase at the Dwarka Expressway toll plaza on January 24, officials said.
Deswal, a 35-year-old resident of Rohtak, Haryana, is allegedly involved in at least 20 serious criminal cases across Delhi and Haryana, including dacoity, murder, attempt to murder, kidnapping, robbery and arms-related offences. He had been declared a proclaimed offender in three cases, while non-bailable warrants and proceedings under the Criminal Procedure Code were also pending against him.
The arrest was made by Team AGS of the Crime Branch under Operation Kavach 12.0, launched to track down absconding gangsters. Acting on specific intelligence, a special team was constituted under the supervision of senior officers. Investigators conducted technical surveillance and verified more than 25 locations across Gurugram, Sonipat and Rohtak to track the accused’s movements.
Police said Deswal had jumped bail after being released from jail two years ago and had been living under the radar, frequently changing locations and using mobile phones registered in the names of acquaintances. He was reportedly working at toll plazas while hiding in Gurugram.
On January 24, the Crime Branch team zeroed in on his location and chased him from the vicinity of Artemis Hospital before arresting him at the Dwarka Expressway toll plaza. Officials said his arrest marks a significant success in curbing interstate gang activity and organized crime in the region.
According to police, Deswal became involved in crime after coming in contact with local criminals and later joined the Krishan Gahta Gang, which was primarily involved in looting and violent offences. Further investigation is underway to trace his associates and linkages.
