Public Health Boost in Ward‑103: MP Sehrawat Inaugurates Dengue Campaign, Announces Library Plan for Old Garbage Points

West Delhi MP Kamaljeet Sehrawat inaugurated the ‘Dengue Day – Awareness Campaign’ in Ward‑103, Keshopur, under the Municipal Corporation of Delhi’s (MCD) West Zone. The initiative, organized by the Public Health Department, aims to strengthen awareness and preventive measures against mosquito‑borne diseases.

Addressing residents, Sehrawat stressed that the most effective way to curb dengue, malaria, and chikungunya is to stop mosquito breeding at the source. “This mosquito is small but dangerous. With a little cooperation from citizens, we can help the Public Health Department control these diseases,” she said.

During the programme, she inspected an exhibition on mosquito‑control measures and flagged off eight new garbage collection vehicles dedicated to door‑to‑door waste disposal in Ward‑103. Sehrawat also announced that old garbage collection points will be repaired and converted into libraries within two months.

Councillor Harish Oberoi urged residents to maintain cleanliness and prevent water stagnation, directing officials to intensify fogging and anti‑mosquito drives at community centres, temples, gurdwaras, and other public places.

Colonel Atri highlighted that sanitation and public health facilities in the West Zone have been continuously strengthened, leading to a decline in dengue and malaria cases compared to last year. He appealed for active citizen cooperation in anti‑mosquito campaigns.

Dr. Ajay Kumar explained that the Aedes mosquito breeds in stagnant clean water found in drums, flower pots, tanks, and containers. He emphasized that public vigilance is key to preventing breeding.

With the launch of eight modern garbage collection vehicles operated by J.S. Enviro, sanitation services in Ward‑103 are expected to see a significant boost.

The event was attended by Rajiv Babbar (Member, DDA), Colonel Vinod Atri (Deputy Commissioner, West Zone, MCD), Harish Oberoi (Ward Committee Chairperson and Councillor, Ward‑103), Dr. Ajay Kumar (Deputy Health Officer), RWA representatives, MCD officials, and local dignitaries.
