The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) pressed ahead with its sweeping enforcement campaign on September 12, targeting unsafe structures and unauthorized constructions across the capital.
In a citywide drive spanning all 12 zones, officials carried out 33 demolition actions, sealed 5 properties, and issued 29 show‑cause notices against violations of the Master Plan of Delhi (MPD) and Building Bye‑Laws. This follows yesterday’s crackdown, which saw 25 demolitions and 4 sealings.
Key actions unfolded in Nehru Vihar and Gandhi Vihar of the North Zone, where dangerous buildings were razed. In the North West Zone, enforcement teams dismantled an RCC panel illegally built on a third‑floor terrace in Sector‑3, Rohini, using gas cutters to remove reinforcement. Additional demolitions were reported from Vijay Vihar and Rohini Sectors 15 and 16.
The South Zone witnessed action in Satbari and Sainik Farms, while the North East Zone saw demolitions in Bhajanpura, Som Bazaar, South Gamri, East Rohtas Nagar, and Shahdara. In the South West Zone, enforcement was carried out in Dwarka and Kakrola. Meanwhile, the West Zone reported demolitions in Tihar Village, Rajouri Garden Extension, and Paschim Vihar, and the Central Zone saw action in Jogabai Extension and Jamia Nagar.
Alongside demolition drives, MCD is conducting a massive survey of Paying Guest (PG) accommodations. So far, 2,251 PG buildings housing nearly 47,000 occupants have been identified. The civic body is consolidating this data to plan regulatory measures and ensure compliance with safety norms.
Reaffirming its stance, MCD stated that stringent enforcement will continue against unsafe structures, misuse of properties, and violations of building laws, with regular inspections aimed at safeguarding public safety.
