Karol Bagh Zone Sees Major Demolition as MCD Intensifies Crackdown

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) continued its sweeping enforcement drive across the capital, with demolition actions carried out in the Karol Bagh Zone as part of the citywide crackdown on unauthorized and unsafe constructions.

In a coordinated operation, officials demolished three RCC slab panels at the roof of intermediate floors between the ground and first floor of Shop No. B‑12, Prahlad Market, D.B. Gupta Road. Reinforcement bars were cut using gas cutters to ensure structural safety.

At Property No. E‑174, Naraina Vihar, dangerous portions of the building were removed to prevent potential hazards. Meanwhile, at Property No. 7039/2, Mata Rameshwari Nehru Nagar, demolition was undertaken on the roof of the second floor. Approximately 70% of the roof was dismantled with hammers, though the pace of work remained slow due to the precarious condition of the first floor and the presence of tall buildings in close proximity.

These actions form part of MCD’s larger enforcement campaign across all 12 zones, where 33 demolitions, 5 sealings, and 29 show‑cause notices were issued on September 12. The drive follows yesterday’s crackdown, which saw 25 properties demolished and 4 sealed for violations of the Master Plan of Delhi (MPD) and Building Bye‑Laws.

MCD has reiterated its commitment to strict enforcement against unsafe structures and unauthorized constructions, emphasizing that regular inspections and demolition measures will continue to safeguard public safety and ensure compliance with building regulations.
