A two-storey building collapsed during demolition work in Delhi’s Karol Bagh area on August 21, leaving one labourer dead and three others injured.
The incident took place at around 11:15 AM at Building No. 3512, Pyare Lal Road, Regarpura, Karol Bagh. According to the preliminary inquiry, the old building was being demolished by a private contractor engaged by the owners.

Police said no permission for the demolition had reportedly been obtained from the concerned agency.During the demolition, the structure suddenly collapsed, trapping labourers working at the site.
Police personnel, along with fire services, immediately reached the spot and launched rescue operations.Four labourers were affected in the incident. Sheikh Shamshad succumbed to his injuries, and his body was shifted to the mortuary at LHMC Hospital.

Md. Ayub sustained serious injuries, including a head injury and a fracture of his right hand. He was referred to Dr RML Hospital, where his condition is stated to be critical. Sheikh Saidul suffered limb injuries and is undergoing treatment at Jeevan Mala Hospital, while Rafik-Ul sustained minor injuries and later left for his residence.
The building owners and the contractor have been detained for questioning. Police said further legal action under appropriate provisions is being initiated after verification of the facts and assessment of the circumstances leading to the collapse.
