Mayor Pravesh Wahi Launches ‘Anti-Dengue Month’ in North-West Delhi, Announces Fogging Drive at Temples and Gurdwaras

Mayor of Delhi Pravesh Wahi inaugurated the ‘Anti-Dengue Month’ awareness campaign at Rohini Sector‑8 in the North‑West Zone today. Addressing residents, the Mayor stressed that the most effective way to fight vector‑borne diseases like Dengue, Malaria, and Chikungunya is to eliminate mosquito breeding at the source.

The program saw participation from Local Councillor Narendra Solanki, Deputy Commissioner Anshul Sirohi, Deputy Health Officer Dr. Kanika, RWA representatives, municipal staff, and local citizens.

Mayor Wahi explained that Aedes and Anopheles mosquitoes thrive in stagnant clean water found in coolers, drums, flower pots, overhead tanks, and bird baths. He urged residents to ensure no water stagnation around their homes, emphasizing that prevention begins at the household level.

To strengthen the campaign, the Mayor directed the Public Health Department to conduct fogging operations at religious places—including temples and gurdwaras—within the coming week.

In addition, Shri Wahi announced dedicated helpline numbers for mosquito control and related complaints:

He assured citizens that complaints registered on these numbers would be addressed promptly, reinforcing the MCD’s commitment to safeguarding public health.
