A day after issuing suspension orders, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has sent a strong signal of accountability by removing three Building Department engineers—including one Assistant Engineer and two Junior Engineers—from duty for negligence in tackling unauthorised construction in the South West Zone.
The officials suspended with immediate effect are:
- Ravinder Kumar, Assistant Engineer (AE), Building Department, South West Zone (erstwhile Najafgarh Zone)
- Suman Saurabh, Junior Engineer (JE), Building Department, South West Zone
- Mohit Yadav, Junior Engineer (JE), Building Department, South West Zone
According to MCD, the action was taken under applicable service rules after the officials were found guilty of dereliction of duty and negligence in enforcing building bye‑laws.
The Corporation has reiterated that any lapse in dealing with unauthorised construction will not be tolerated, and strict accountability will be maintained at all levels. Field officials have been directed to remain vigilant and ensure timely enforcement against violations in accordance with prescribed procedures.
MCD emphasized that enforcement and administrative measures will continue to be strengthened to prevent illegal construction across Delhi, with responsibility fixed on officials who fail to act.
